High School bound

We toured the high school that Gavin will be attending next year. It is the typical large confusing array of halls, rooms and stairwells. Gavin is interested in ceramics so we headed to that room first. It was more like a huge garage and had ten or more potting wheels. Our neighbor was sitting at one of them making a pot and it was fun to see her there. Gavin is also interested in continuing his piano lessons which is not offered at the school so we will have to find him private lessons. He is starting to talk about drivers ed, finding a job, and even moving away from Boise when he turns eighteen. Whoa, whoa, wait a minute says I. I'm not quite ready.

Hard to believe Gavin is high school bound. Time sure flies! We wish him all the best in the new environment.

Drivers ed? Finding a job? Moving away? Noooo - he's growing up!! One of these days, you and Jim will turn around and he will have a family of his own.

Hang on to this: they never really "go away" - they keep coming back. And sometimes they bring grandbabies with them - 10 times the fun and 1/2 the worry. Well, okay ALL the worry, but 10 times the fun.

Love you.

Yep; he is in the process of making the bed that he will sleep in the rest of his life.

As he makes a choice to enter one door, other doors of opportunity wil close to him.

I've seen it happen, time after time; unknowingly.

Best wishes to Gavin and the choices he makes.

I'm proud of the person Gavin has become. He is sensitive, loving and kind. I know he will do well in life no matter what door he chooses to go through.

Not only that, but he is a good looker too! I feel your excitement for all of the opportunities Gavin has ahead. I sense he may be headed for the arts. Or, a combo with computer science.

I remember when we visited you in Boise last spring, he shared a vision about going to college and an interest in graphic arts for the booming gaming industry. And he has a feel for music. Did any of our siblings other than Marty learn piano? I play a toe tapping kazoo!

It will be exciting watching him open doors the next three years.
