We have our very own Hoot Owl. Actually, according to my Birds of Idaho book, it is a Western Screech-Owl. Anyway first we noticed the mess it was leaving on Jim's truck and it didn't take long for Gavin to spot it.

Well, look at that hootie up in the tree!
I use to think I was exchanging calls with an owl until the next door neighbor lady pointed out the mourning dove that was having fun with me. We still "talk."
I remember when you were here you thought you kept hearing an owl and we said no, it's probably a dove. I think you were right and your hearing is not all that bad after all.

Well, who knows for sure?
I thought I was hooting to an owl here in the backyard until the neighbor lady showed me it was a mouring dove.
Nice to learn that it was an owl at your place.
Back in Texas, I had conversations with mocking birds. A favorite would greet me in the mornings and do flips from the chimmney at the club house.
We had a song dance.
